Job Title: Accounts Payroll Assistant

Our client is an established accountancy practice, they are looking to recruit an Accounts Payroll Assistant for a permanent position in Cheshire

As part of the payroll team you will be involved in all aspects of payroll for limited company Directors and a small number of employees. This includes reconciliations, calculations, tax code changes and payrolls for contractors captured by IR35 legislation

Skills Required

Duties will include

Process the payroll for limited companies on a weekly and monthly basis, ensuring payroll information is submitted to HMRC in a timely manner.
Carry out payroll amendments as required
Produce quarterly PAYE returns
Produce Year-End payroll information
Manage different populations of customers and process their payrolls as applicable
Liaise with HMRC regarding a variety of queries relating to specific payroll matters through to legislation changes and RTI requirements etc.
Process statutory claims i.e. SMP, SSP and SPP ensuring that advance funding from HMRC is requested
Issue P45’s for leavers
Process P45’s for new customers
Speak to customers to explain how their PAYE has been calculated
Maintain electronic and manual records in line with business procedures and statutory requirements
Carry out work in accordance with internal policies and procedures and ensure that relevant compliance or regulatory requirements are met
Any other duties that are deemed necessary to support the business.

Qualifications Required

About you:

Good understanding of tax codes and tax code changes
6 month’s payroll experience
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Professional telephone manner
Strong excel skills
An understanding of HMRC regulations and payroll requirements
