Industrial / Product Designer.

Our client based in Halifax is a leading Industrial product Design / Manufacturing Company based in Halifax. Making OEM equipment for many Blue Chip companies but also involved with a number of diverse, third party design and build projects for other, non-related UK and European customers, with the objective to further develop and promote this aspect of their business.

We are looking for an Industrial / New Product Designer to join their existing Design team to work initially on a unique concept `Game Play` product to the leisure industry which they are designing for one of their clients. The product involves expanded foam profiles, rotational mouldings, IP (Ingress Protection) rated systems and enclosure together with battery power and motor drives. The product is for the public domain, so must be aesthetically designed and pleasing to the eye.

The ideal candidate will have experience of the industry and able to show success on past projects and concept designs.

Responsibilities of the job include:

- Designing to the agreed spec, a product or products relative to the project.
- Consulting managers and clients about design requirements.
- Working within budgets and time-scales.
- Clarifying and solving design issues.
- Investigating appropriate materials and production processes.
- Producing sketches and sample designs.
- Testing product designs using models, prototypes, specialist computer software.
- Maintaining an awareness of current design trends and influences.
- Working closely with all customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders such as sales, marketing and manufacturing.
- Presenting designs, samples and final work to customers for evaluation.
- Producing engineering drawings for manufacture and discussions with. suppliers.
- Create and modify Bill of Materials.

The position requires a highly motivated, forward thinking individual with good commercial business sense and eye for detail, ability to work to deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously, thinking through the best design options to achieve the optimum overall costs within the budgetary constraints and project projections.


Degree in Product Design / Detailing.

3D design or spatial design (Min 3 years).

CAD, Solidworks, Autocad, Microsoft Office.

Hours of work are either Mon - Thurs 7.30am - 4pm and 1pm Fri or Mon - Thurs 8am - 4.30pm and Fri 1.30pm.

Salary will be between 30 - 35k DOE
