Our client, based in Liverpool, are recruiting for a Solution Architect to join their team.

Reporting into the Head of Strategy and Architecture, the Solution Architect will be responsible for the development of business systems solution design, reviewing business requirements to ensure that they are aligned with expectations and future technology potential in addition to leading the creation of Applications Systems Architecture. The ideal candidate will be someone who is well-rounded in their experience and able to move from one discipline to another (e.g. applications architecture, middleware, application development and information analysis) fluidly.


• Leading and assisting the creation of governing principles to guide applications
• Lead the development of the Applications Architecture implementation plan based on IT Strategy and business outcomes.
• Responsible for the alignment of the Applications Roadmaps with Enterprise, Data and Infrastructure Roadmaps.
• Ensuring that architectural principles are linked with best practice governance and compliance.
• Manage the evaluation and selection of solutions design standards in addition to selecting appropriate technologies and products.
• Identify requirements for resources, structures and cultural changes needed to support architecture.

Skills and Experience:

• At least 7 years experience in two or more of the following IT Disciplines within a global environment:
o Applications Architecture
o Application Development
o Middleware
o Information Analysis
• Experienced in working in/with a Tier 1 Outsourcing Organisation
• A focus on business outcomes with the ability to remain neutral towards vendor, product and technology choices.
• Exceptional communication skills- written and verbal.
• Experienced in using multiple, technologies and processing environments including Microsoft and Oracle.
• Excellent holistic knowledge of solutions architecture with knowledge in web-based systems and service-based architecture.
• Proven leadership abilities and a strong team player.
• Vendor Management experience with a proven track record of negotiating with vendors.
• Experienced in effectively delivering short and mid-term actions which are consistent with long term goals while keeping sight of the ‘bigger picture’.
• Knowledge of financial models, Web Service API’s and re-engineering business processes.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a technical or business management discipline. TOGAF and ITIL Foundation certifications are highly desirable.
