My client is looking to recruit an experienced Composite Design Engineer for their site in Diss, Norfolk. The purpose of the job is to ensure that all design and engineering meets customers specifications and passed to manufacturing team to ensure manufacture meets the design, quality and delivery schedules.


  1. Responsible for the production of drawings, models, assembly models, bills of materials and engineering change notes for the delegated project.

  2. To provide technical guidance within the design team and ensure technical sign off of engineering changes and design releases within the team.

  3. To carry out design, investigation and concept engineering work utilising Catia V5.

  4. To ensure that designs meet customer specifications including the aesthetic and technical requirements.

  5. To undertake design activities of structural components including metal, plastics and composite using Catia V5.

  6. To undertake design studies progressing concepts through to production.

  7. To work closely with the Design Team to ensure projects are kept on track, notifying of any delays as they arise.

  8. To identify and participate in any training or development which contributes to your department and/or company objectives.

  9. To support the Operations Director in continuous improvement and best practice activities including setting up systems, processes, tools to maximise the efficiency, quality of output and agility of the engineering team.


  • HND, BEng or BSc Mechanical Engineering Discipline.

  • Proven previous experience of working on Motorsport / Automotive components.

  • Previous experience within a composites design and manufacturing environment advantageous.

  • Ability to achieve design/project objectives and high standards

  • Experience of working as part of a cross functional project team to deliver designs into production

  • Commercial experience in CATIA V5 essential

  • Ability to work to DFM and DFC processes

  • Ability to work with an APQP process.

  • Knowledge of FEA in particular HyperWorks an advantage.
