Job Summary

Working as a field service engineer, as part of a small team or on solo assignments, maintaining, installing and repairing generators and ancillary equipment nationwide reporting to the Service Manager ensuring best practice and quality are achieved at all times.

Main Functions and Duties

*Perform all assigned jobs according to the technical and work instructions supplied
*Maintain contact with manager to establish existing work load and spares requirements
*Ensure that all service reports are provided in a timely manner
*Ensure that timesheets are submitted accurately and on time
*Identify any areas that require remedial work or further attention and advise customer and manager as necessary, take corrective action where appropriate
*Identify opportunities for additional work and report to management
*Ensure that all personal and company supplied tools and equipment are calibrated according to established procedures and are fit for purpose
*Carry out basic equipment maintenance, identify and correct faults and report to manager if required
*Ensure that regular inspections of designated company vehicle/trailer are carried out in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and the company H&S procedures. Report any defects and take appropriate action to have them rectified
*Maintain a clean, organised and productive work area within the workshop and whilst on customers sites and also including company vehicles and equipment
*Ensure a safe working environment
*Adhere and work to Health and Safety regulations, both on site and within a workshop environment
*Maintain a working knowledge of company Quality management system as it affects the specific role and that of the team
*Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with company Quality Management system and customer specifications or contracts
*Any other appropriate support to engineering function as required

Critical Success Factors
Success in this role will be judged by the following key performance indicators:

*Ability to lead generator installations
*Ability to carry out major medium and high speed engine overhauls
*Effective management of a team of engineers on a job by job basis
*Completion of jobs to agreed timescales
*Ability to investigate problems and identify solutions

Working Conditions

*The role is based from home, it is a requirement of this role that the job holder will be prepared to travel throughout the UK

Job Holder Attributes

Essential experience / skills and knowledge:

*Medium and High Speed engine and ancillary equipment knowledge
*Control panel fault finding experience
*Ability to lead major generator installations, servicing and repairs
*Excellent communication skills
*A proven track record
*HSE knowledge

Useful experience / skills and knowledge:
*Computer Skills (Microsoft Packages as a minimum)
