Analytical Laboratory Team Leader - GMP - HPLC - GC - Pharmaceutical - £27k - Cambridgeshire

A busy contract testing lab requires an experienced Analytical Team Leader to join its pharmaceutical division in Cambridge. As part of the laboratory management you will be responsible for the supervision and organisation of the laboratory team to ensure that productivity is maintained and deadlines are met. The team perform analyses of pharmaceutical and water samples for a range of chemical and physical tests following approved methodology in accordance with GMP and the group quality management and health and safety procedures.

* Day to day supervision of a team of analysts and technicians
* Organisation and management of the workload to achieve the targets and goals of the business
* Monitoring systems to ensure that all tests and processes are completed in a timely manner and within client timeframes
* Communication with clients as required, to clarify testing requirements or any issues encountered during testing
* Monitor training levels and records within the team to ensure sufficient resource and flexibility and identify any training requirements
* Monitor timekeeping, absence and behaviour within the team and highlight any concerns to line manager
* Ensuring all work undertaken within the team complies with all relevant Quality, HSE, Regulatory and internal policies and procedures
* Investigation of anomalies and OOS
* Working with suppliers and management to highlight any new or improved equipment or processes

Experience required:
* Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or an appropriate subject, or proven experience in relevant analytical techniques
* Theoretical and practical knowledge of Chemical analysis across a range of methodologies, techniques and procedure e.g. HPLC, GC, AA etc.
* Previous supervisory experience is essential
* Flexible approach to working to meet client needs
* Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs
* Previous experience of working in a GMP laboratory environment is desirable.
* Ability to work alone and part of a team in a busy laboratory
* Ability to prioritise your own workload and the workload of others
* Good communication skills, written and oral, with good organisational skills and the ability to accurately follow methods and excellent attention to detail
* Have a commitment to continual learning and development of self and team
