Their UK operation employs around 900 people covering existing and “start-up” operations spanning eight locations including several depots across the country including a vast manufacturing facility here in the UK.The company have secured a number of high profile orders with full lifecycle maintenance contracts to manufacture and maintain over 200 brand new trains and as a result, will look to increase their headcount to 2000 by 2020 to meet the demands of these contracts. Right now, they need you an experienced electrical test technician with advanced fault finding capabilities able to undertake the factory acceptance testing of the new fleet. Up for the challenge?THE IDEAL CANDIDATEThis Test Technician role is a fabulous opportunity to work on some hi-tech trains where you can take pride in the fact you played an important part in getting these trains up and running! This is a 4-month contract with excellent earning potential and the possibility of extension for a further 2 months. What’s more, you’ll be paid a completion bonus £2 for every hour worked if you commit to the duration of the test program, certainly not an opportunity to be missed!ABOUT THE JOBAs a Test Technician, you will part of a vast team undertaking the factory acceptance tests on all components and systems on board the trains, which could extend to protection warning systems to traction motors and even USB plugs. All the test procedures have been written you just need to carry out the tests and document the results. Typically, you’ll identify up to 80 faults from the tests and you will have to rectify them all before the train can move into the dynamic testing phase. You’ll need to work safely as some of the tests will be on high voltage systems. This is a fab, fast paced role that will keep you busy and your brain ticking over!THE REQUIREMENTSYou’re the Test Technician I am looking for if you have a solid track record of fault finding and repairing high value capital machinery supported by an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering and been involved in testing.
