Vacancy: Desk Engineer – Building Services

Some of the most successful companies in the UK are family owned and run, this is one of them. Our client has been established for over 75 years and has operated as an Air Conditioning, Refrigeration M&E and other core Building Services Contractor throughout the UK during this time.

As part of their continued success in supporting retail clients in the Birmingham area, they are looking to recruit an experienced Desk Engineer to carry out the following;


• Reduce call volumes across stores through use of the interrogation and 1st diagnosis process
• Systematically eliminate any non-value calls and resultant repeat calls
• Liaise with client and/or their system teams/providers to cancel calls and to resolve building services issues.
• Maintain effective customer communication and liaison to obtain feedback to drive improvement to improve process and customer service.
• Analyse data against raised calls for predictable faults and use this information to ensure that the potential for any further problems are reached before the system alarms.
• Analyse data to identify 'hot spots' and poor performing sites and implement plan for improvement.
• Provide support, coaching and direction to engineers to resolve technical and engineering problems and eliminate repeat call requirements.
• Provide direction, timely job updates and help to Service Controllers to ensure that all engineers time is productive.
• Understand projects timetable and on-going site works to enable any effective utilisation of engineering resource.
• Identify revised spare parts requirements from emerging trends in fault types.
• Audit work carried out by engineers to ensure jobs are completed correctly and effectively.
• Conduct Desktop audit for PPM works to help reduce subsequent calls and recalls to store
• Keep an accurate recording system of historical data which provides detail on jobs interrogated, calls saved, advice given and any repeat calls.
• Maintain the tracking report which will identify equipment history and trends.
• Provide effective supervisory, data and technical support to account managers to assist customer demand
• Identify quantifiable basis for capital investment and advise Account Manager/s.

Essential Requirements:
 Building Services experience / background
 Technical qualification would be an advantage
 Computer Literate – MS Software
