Orange Appointments are working closely with a leading, high profile consultancy seeking an experienced and ambitious Fire Engineer to join the busy team in Manchester and work on iconic projects across the globe.
Fire engineering is a vital aspect of all building design processes. Using expert knowledge of the response of people and buildings to fire, the fire engineering team facilitate architectural vision and address client needs.
The suitable candidate will have already have been working within a Fire safety design engineering environment for either a small or large consultancy in the UK and have a wide range of project experience.

Role and Responsibilities:
Work with Senior and Associate Engineers to project manage small to medium fire engineering projects
Become involved with client care and general consultancy on both small- and large-scale projects
Represent Fire Engineering at design team meetings, both internal and externally
Liaise with approval authorities on fire safety designs and proposals
Build knowledge to be able to identify and specify appropriate fixed fire protection systems
Carry out and review fire engineering calculations including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis (previous CFD experience is welcome)
Manage relationships with internal and external clients, engineers and other stakeholders
Share knowledge both within the fire engineering team and on a wider basis
Be competent with IT packages such as Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Autocad and analysis software

Key Requirements:
A higher education qualification in engineering or in a fire safety related subject
Demonstrable, relevant ‘hands-on’ professional experience within fire engineering.
Confident, proactive character, with a track record or the ability to taking the lead in challenging situations.
Developing expertise in delivering fire safety engineering solutions in a multi-disciplinary environment with solid experience in developing fire strategies, undertaking engineering analysis and applying performance based designs
An aptitude for problem solving
Willingness to travel across the UK and overseas
