Join Kobalt and help to shape the future of music.

Who are we?

Kobalt is the leading technology-powered music services company, offering end-to-end solutions for over 50,000 artists and songwriters and 800 labels and publishing companies. Through Kobalt technology and services, creators benefit from more money, better reporting, and maintain ownership and control over how their work is distributed, tracked, collected, and monetized. With the award-winning Kobalt desktop portal and app, Kobalt clients get real-time insight into their work and activity.

We’re currently 450 people based across 10 offices and we’re expecting to grow. That’s where you come in.

What is the opportunity?

We are looking to hire Graduate-level PHP Software Engineers to join our growing tech team. You will join a growing team of friendly, award-winning developers working on their client-facing portal. This portal is an important business tool and allows their clients to visually see account information, providing unparalleled access and transparency to detailed historical data reporting.

Such industry unique features and the transparency of information we provide in the web-portal were the driving force behind the "Innovation in Publishing" award we collected at the MusicAlly awards in 2014.

At Kobalt, you will be able to work with PHP, web application frameworks such as Laravel and React/Redux, MVC and OOP methodologies. You will also work with unit testing and in a development environment following TDD and BDD.

What do we need from you?

We’re looking for you to have an understanding of PHP object-orientated programming, front-end technologies and general software engineering principles gained from a relevant recent degree. We are also looking for experience in the following:

  • PHP programming experience;
  • SQL and database design knowledge;
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript;
  • An interest in working in an Agile environment

Additionally, we’re looking for a desire to learn; we want you to take advantage of the support and mentoring you’ll receive from the team in order to develop your knowledge and improve your skills.

What’s in it for you?

You will join a forward-thinking company that has embraced the power of technology and creative thinking. We believe that our Graduate Engineers have a key role to play in the future of the music industry, and we practice what we preach: a number of our Senior Engineers first started as graduates. In addition, you can expect benefits health insurance, death-in-service coverage, health cover, childcare vouchers, such as season ticket loan, a cycle-to-work scheme, and pensions. Our office is in the heart of London, and we value our relaxed, friendly culture; at Kobalt, you’re not just an Engineer. You’re a part of the future of music.
