Due to some internal changes within this division of an international manufacturing business, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced operations accountant to join the team. Based out of their site in Bishop's Stortford and reporting to the divisional Finance Director you will be tasked with the following:

Ensure that the manufacturing operations complies with internal control policies and practices by reviewing transactions, information processed and conducting periodical structured and/or informal departmental audits of accounting practices and procedures.
Coordinate and prepare the monthly, quarterly and annual internal financial reporting to ensure communication of accurate and timely information to management.
Development, review, and analysis of standard costs for all new products and product line extensions, including the annual standard update, development of labour and overhead rates, and the qualification of year to year financial impact of changes. Controls data base and ensures the integrity of the cost accounting systems, as well as, the General Ledger, as it relates to the manufacturing facilities.
Provides analysis to explain variances and support cost estimates and cost reduction programs. Identifies financial benefits related to new product requests and makes recommendations to management.
Manages the Plant budgeting process to include forecasts, production plan, shipments, labour loads, cost reduction programs, capital investments, etc. Assesses and highlights financial risk associated with such business plan.
Responsible for the coordination of the Physical Inventory and/ or cycle counts encompassing all stock at the plants. Ensures proper staffing levels for counting, audits, data entry; trains counters and auditors in responsibilities; assures accurate valuation and recording of results. Manages monthly inventory reporting, balancing of perpetuals to the G/L, and analysis of such including levels/types of inventory, obsolescence etc
Investigates, reviews and analyses the accounting flow, controls and procedures highlighting problem areas and developing improvements. Develops and implements corrective action as required. Responsible for maintaining Sarbanes Oxley compliance documentation for the manufacturing facilities
Prepares as required Manufacturing Capital Authorization Requests providing financial analysis where appropriate, and ensure the requests are authorised as per Corporate policy
Facilitate and coordinate internal and external financial audits as required, and liaise with the UK Shared Service Centre to ensure service levels are maintained for all accounting support functions carried out by the Shared Service Centre.
Assist in the implementation of management information systems to support the manufacturing operations.

To be considered for this role you must be a qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA and have extensive experience of standard costing within a manufacturing business. You will have the ability to integrate with operational staff at various levels within the business so the ability to overcome resistance and challenge are essential. A working knowledge of Oracle or SAP is also essential for this position.
