A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Singles Homelessness Officer to join one of our local authority clients in East London.

The client is looking for the successful candidate to have previous experience in or an understanding of:

*Providing advice and assistance to single vulnerable adults to prevent homelessness and to take homeless applications, assessing applications and making decisions.
*Giving advice to potentially homeless applicants and prevent homelessness where possible
*The Housing Act of 1988, 1996 and the amendments with homelessness legislation 2002 and the Housing and Regeneration Act 2004/8. A good working knowledge of these homelessness legislation's and security of tenure is very important
*Representing a council at court in cases in order to prevent homelessness
*Managing a high workload in line with the council's targets
*Interviewing and assessing homeless households both in person and by phone, as well as carrying out home visits

The ability to clearly communicate with customers and colleagues verbally and in writing is also critical in this post.
