Team Manager who is able to Empower Social Workers - London
Help Lead and Empower Social Workers to Drive Practice
A Local Authority which I work work with is looking to take on a Permanent Team Manager within their Safeguarding service. The Local Authority is one of few in London that over the last 2 years has not made any cuts to their Social Care budgets and has in fact, increased overall staffing. This is unlikely to change moving forward as the service becomes more stable and more permanent staff are recruited to locum posts.
Working as part of very stable management team, all of who are currently permanent members of staff, you will be leading a small team of 5 Social Workers and 1 Senior Practitioner. Due to the size of the team there is a greater sense of camaraderie with cases being discussed and a Buddy system in place. As a Team Manager you will be required to carry out staff supervision once a month, and with a team of 6 workers this means slightly more that 1 supervision session a week.
The safeguarding service take incoming referrals from the public and signpost cases, following assessment through to the appropriate service. Average caseloads for Social Workers in the team are currently around 20 with duty being held every 4th week.
One of the key features that the hiring manager is looking for is for candidates to be able to empower their staff and really contribute to the development of the service. This makes this an excellent opportunity for a career driven Manager who is really looking to help develop the future of the service.
