The Buyer will provide support to the stategic purchasing function, involving the setting of contracts, improving supplier relationships, developing and implementing cost saving iniatives, and working closely with quality, engineering and planning departments.

My client is a stable and successful family business based in Birmingham, and are market leaders for the manufacture of HVAC systems to the automotive industry.

Description

  • Purchasing project prioritisation and management

  • Managing purchasing information, systems, and purchasing services

  • Managing suppliers, relationships, SLA's (service level agreements)

  • Setting, monitoring and managing delivery performance system as well as reviewing QA performance grading

  • Forecasting and planning

  • Liaison with other departments over supplier performance and re-sourcing activity

  • Negotiating and administration of purchasing contracts

  • Make or buy policy analysis and decisions

  • Rent or buy policy evaluation and recommendation

  • Cost saving budgeting and targeting

  • Setting and planning achievement of supplier accreditation

  • Service level management

  • Administration and reporting as necessary

  • Outsourcing strategy/ development/ management

  • Payment terms negotiation, optimisation and management

  • Liaison on warehousing, distribution, shipping management with Logistics

  • Effective stock reduction processes using simple systems like KANBAN

  • Regulatory awareness, compliance and information communication

  • International trading issues/ imports/ legal awareness and management

Profile

  • Ideally CIPS qualified or working towards

  • Strong negotiation ability and an assertive approach to problem resolution

  • Excellent administrative, task and time management skills with attention to detail

  • Previous experience and knowledge of recognised purchasing methods

  • IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office packages

  • Flexibility, a good team working spirit and a positive 'can do, will do' attitude

  • Keen to participate and contribute towards continuous improvement

  • Technical product knowledge and understanding

  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team

Job Offer

£25,000 - £28,000

Working hours - Monday - Thursday 08.00am - 17.00pm, Friday 08.00 - 15.00pm
