Job description
UKS is a leading company in the field of underfloor heating and screeding dealing with a range of national and international construction projects worth up to tens of millions of pounds.
We are looking to appoint applicants that are keen to develop a career in law or in construction claims and dispute resolution. The position offers applicants an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding area of law for a growing firm with an established reputation. This role also gives an opportunity for a successful career in law away from the traditional solicitor / barrister routes.
Working at UKS gives candidates the chance to be involved in prestigious construction projects in the UK and across the globe and to deal with complex legal work. We encourage development of our staff and provide an excellent opportunity to work with experienced professionals in the field who will help to expand and develop your knowledge and skills.
We primarily deal with contentious construction matters, including claim preparation, commercial negotiations, arbitration, adjudication, assistance with litigation and mediation. In addition to this we assist clients with a range of non contentious matters.
The role involves assisting senior fee earners on a range of cases, preparation of legal documents, and correspondence. You will eventually have your own case load that will be supervised by the senior team.
You must be commercially aware, flexible with a can-do attitude, and committed. The role is a challenging, but rewarding and exciting position, which requires high levels of attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure in an environment that demands excellence.
This Is a Varied And Interesting Position To Suit Either
We are committed to providing a first class service to our clients and therefore seek individuals who demonstrate excellence in their achievements and academic abilities.
A BPTC/BVC graduate, ideally with some post qualification experience and a good track record in contentious work; or
A candidate with suitable experience in construction claims, quantity surveying or commercial management.
A sound knowledge of contract law is essential. Familiarity with construction law and practice is advantageous, but not a prerequisite.
Applicants that are invited for interview will be asked to undertake a test exercise to demonstrate their technical ability either in contract law or construction claims, depending on their existing experience.
Salary between £24,000-£30,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Excellent prospects of progression.
