Liverpool YMCA are currently looking for motivated, experienced individuals to join our team as a Support Worker.

Support Workers assist in the provision of effective, high quality support services to vulnerable, single homeless individuals who have complex needs such as offending behaviour, substance misuse problems, mental health issues and who are vulnerable to rough sleeping. Our aim is to promote independent living.

The Support workers will work closely as part of a team with the Director of operations and Operational Leadership Team in the development of operational planning and service delivery to the highest standards.

You will work to exceptional therapeutic standards including Cognitive Analytical Therapy and Trauma Informed Care. If you are an experienced support worker and are looking for an exciting new challenge this could be the opportunity for you:

The role of the Support Worker will include: Encourage involvement and participation from residents in the delivery and shaping of their support Ensure at all times the safety of yourself and others on the premises in which you work in accordance to LYMCA policies and procedures Supporting residents who display challenging behaviour, including verbal aggression Be a representative of LYMCA Provide a high level of therapeutic support to people with complex needs and mental health issues Plan and facilitate workshops to individuals and groups Create a platform for move on to independent accommodation Liaise and work with a range of statutory and voluntary sector partners Plan and review support with residents including the use of the Outcome Star

The Successful Support worker will possess: The ability to support clients who display challenging behavior including verbal aggression A nationally recognised qualification in Mental Health, substance misuse or related discipline or significant experience of working in a related setting Evidence of continuing professional development Experience of working in a support service/ hostel setting Awareness and understanding of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Trauma Informed Care Competent in using advanced I.T skills to support delivery of tasks and have capacity to learn new applications and packages Committed to improving the lives of people with complex needs and mental health issues Creative and dynamic with the ability to “think outside the box” when providing solutions Excellent interpersonal/ communication skills Commitment to own career development Reliability

It is recognised that the association is operating in a dynamic environment and as such this job description may be varied in consultation with the post holder to reflect evolving needs of the business and changing nature of the job.

The programme will be staffed 24/7 and the post holder will be working a rota of early and late shifts over 7 days including weekends and bank holidays.
