History PGCE - Paid Teacher Training – North West London

To be eligible for the course, you will need to have the following:

• University educated with a 2:2 degree or above
• ‘C’ grade or above in Maths and Science

The programme is split into three sections with training and support offered throughout. The phases are split up into the following:

Phase 1: Year 1, terms 1 and 2 – Work in a support role within the school, such as a Teaching Assistant.

Phase 2: Year 1, term 3 – Move to a 50% timetable to ease into teaching whilst working with the teachers around you to continually improve.

Phase 3: Year 2 – History PGCE Phase – Teaching an 80% timetable. Training within the two years will include

• Residential training fully paid for during your half terms
• Link Tutor from the University of Buckingham
• Three assignments (2,500 – 3,000 words each)
• School Mentor
• Online Programme
• Tuition and Practice tests for the skills tests

At the end of the History PGCE you will be awarded:

• A full PGCE from Buckingham University
• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
• Masters credits
• Job within the school you have been training within
