Learning Support Workers
An exciting and rewarding opportunity to join a fantastic care provider who Support young people with learning disabilities. Working under the centre management, your role will be to support the residents both socially and academically, both in and outside of the house. The young people have a range of learning disabilities and challenging behaviours so the successful candidate must have experience in both of these areas.
Your overall responsibility is to ensure all residents have equal opportunities to develop themselves and prepare for adult life. This will be achieved by promoting the rights of the residents to be treated with dignity and respect. Respecting the confidences of the young person (unless a safe guarding issue arose) Build stable relationships with the YPs and encourage them to form strong bonds with their families, friends and other staff members. Promoting self esteem. Support the YPs in making informed decisions. Protect them from harm in line with the clients safeguarding policy.
You will be working in a challenging but highly rewarding environment and, in addition to supportive colleagues; the client seeks to support staff through the provision of occupational health services, health benefits, regular wellbeing events and a confidential counseling service. They also regularly organise quiz nights, parties and team building/fun events. They are passionate about the continuous development of their colleagues and have a robust performance review and development programme in place.
Hours 40 hours per week as per rota - 52 weeks per year including weekends and bank holidays.
Salary from £14,445 - £16,095
