Contract Type
Full Time
My clients business is changing and this is the first hire into this role.
They are now doing a lot of work with management consultants, parachuting into situations to
deliver rapid, digital solutions to business challenges. A lot of this work is UX and/or technical
work, but for the first part of the engagement it needs a kick-ass, generalist to be able to meet the
client, understand the nature of the problem (and client business) and then assemble a team
based on the needs of the situation.

Are you this person?
It won't necessarily be an easy position. Once you understand the client's requirements, you'll
need to work with the team to develop and drive through a solution and then look to see if there
are any opportunities to develop the business. Most of the work will be agile using the Agile PM
framework, but you need to be more than just an Agile PM, you need to be able to help everyone
understand the big picture and drive the entire solution.

The role:

To lead Project Teams in the strategic development and delivery of key projects.

You will be the first contact the agency has with complex client challenges, so you'll need to be
able to quickly get your head around them and identify the right shape of team to develop a

The ability to appraise a situation, pull it apart and create a plan for how we can put it back
together is key. While experts from the various agency disciplines will input into the solution, it is
your job to be accountable for the end product to both the board and the client.

Team leadership in an agile environment
You're going to be heading up a team focused on solution design and delivery in a constantly
evolving environment. You don't have to be the person who builds the wireframes and writes the
JavaScript, but you need to be able to lead, brief and manage the people who do.

Clients can sometimes be their own worst enemy, so it's up to you to help keep the momentum
up, the team strong and be an enabling force when there are obstacles on the track. We're not
expecting miracles here - we know that there are things out of our control - but we're looking for
someone who's not going to give up at the first hurdle.

Ownership & accountability
You'll be leading your team, so the buck stops with you. As an agency, it's our job to make sure you
have what you need to get the job done, and as the Product Owner it's your job to make sure we
know what that is.

Facilitating workshops with client stakeholders of the highest level
The solutions we develop aren't created in a vacuum, they're made collaboratively with our clients
and partners to extract the most value from everyone's expertise. In our experience, the most
powerful method for pooling this expertise and applying it to the challenge is a facilitated
workshop with all the key stakeholders.
We don't expect you to know how we run workshops, but we do need someone who's comfortable
leading a group through a process and managing the personalities towards a solution. It's a
transformative process, so it's a tool that we need you to be able to wield.

The ability to quickly understand client's sector, business & challenges
You don't have to be an expert in banking, re-insurance, law firms or supermarkets to make a
build a product - but you do need to be able to pick up the fundamentals and then nuance of a
business and its challenges quickly if you're going to make a difference.
We want people who are curious about how and why things work (or don't) - no matter what the
sector - so that they can apply their learning wherever it's valuable.
