Position Title: Residential Childcare Practitioner

Position Responsible to:

Team Leader / Registered Home Manager

Position Summary:

To provide high quality child care practice, within our clients model of an integrated therapeutic approach, across all residential homes. To support the Registered Home Manager to ensure that a therapeutic environment is developed in accordance with the Company's core values.

To ensure efficient and effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of the staff, service and organisation and improved outcomes for every young person.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people in our care. Promote the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment and immediately report any unsafe practices, conditions or concerns.

Assist in the implementation of care and placement plans, taking into account the views of the young person. Contribute to placement planning, participate in reviews and other meetings and write and edit reports when required.Ensure the delivery of all key worker responsibilities including the delivery of direct work. Ensure ongoing assessment of children and young people's needs in day to day practice, and be able to evidence achievements using outcomes measuring tools where appropriate.

Promote young people's participation, to ensure young people are actively involved in the environment and day to day activities of the home. Relate to and engage young people who display challenging behaviour and utilise a variety of behaviour management strategies.Other Requirements:Sleeping in / shift work on a rota system, including evenings and weekends. Provide cover to other homes within the company when required.
