The Company
A distributor for the health-food trade and major supermarkets in the UK, Europe, and Middle-East. They work with specialist producers to develop authentic and certified organic foods where possible.
Company's current project for BRC (Agents & Brokers) Certification requires someone who is confident in taking decisions with risk assessments on the unusual range of products.

Responsibilities:
o ensuring that the safety, legality, authenticity and quality of products is maintained through up-to-date specifications and QA information on all products and suppliers
-undertake the necessary record-keeping and communications with our suppliers (reviews of the product specifications, HACCP plans, supplier questionnaires, certificates of analysis, suppliers' third party certificates, etc.)
o
o keeping the relevant records and following the working procedures to demonstrate the due diligence
o collecting, reviewing and approving the suppliers' quality assurance documentation to ensure the compliance with relevant regulations and agreed specifications
o maintaining the product and supplier database with up-to-date information
o undertaking the necessary product checks and monitoring
o responding to customer queries and complaints and analysing them for significant trends
o assisting with the enquiries from the Sales Team and the trade customers for the technical information, undertake the necessary communications, investigations and record-keeping
o working closely with the Product Development team to ensure the compliance of the final product and the product label
o Upgrading our procedures and records in preparing for BRC certification application
o Ensuring we follow procedures in compliance with the applicable food regulations and organic standards.
o Verify the validity of the information on the product labels based on the Food Information Regulation criteria in conjunction with the Product Development Team
o Actively participate in the monthly HACCP meetings, analyse the potential product risks and keep up to date with emerging trends in the fields of food safety and regulatory compliance
o Assist in maintaining the relevant third party certifications (Organic, Demeter, Vegan, Kosher)

The Person:
o BRC Agents and Brokers food certification previous experience (non-manufacturing traders)
o experience in the food industry, ideally in supplier specification and administration
o good scientific background / understanding of Food science
o good working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel and Word and other database applications
o good understanding and training in HACCP principles
o experience with QA audits, BRC/IFS or FSSC22000 certification procedures
o working knowledge of EU / UK Food Regulations
o self-motivating team player, with good communication skills
o Knowledge of organic certification standards is desirable
