McGinley Support Services operate as an employment business and currently seek to recruit experienced Construction Area Managert for a contract in Lewes

You are responsible to your Manager stated above for the execution of your individual job responsibilities. You shall: * "Be Safe" and work in line with Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures; setting a positive example to others * demonstrate a positive attitude and encourage desired behaviours in others * support your Manager and the staff under your control * maintain a good working relationship with Client and other Stakeholders * manage and control your section of the work according to the agreed programmes and * be conversant with all drawings, specifications and related information for these works. To cover your absence from site during holiday periods, you are to handover your duties to a delegate agreed with your Manager. System Management: You are responsible for implementing the Contract Management Plan (CMP) for your section of the works and complying with the requirements of Work Instructions. Your duties include all maintenance and construction in accordance with the Standards stated in the CMP including the generation of quality records that show compliance with the CMP and other requirements. Your attention is drawn to the relevant Policies for this project. Be aware of their content. These Policy Statements are available on iCosNet. Duties and Responsibilities: Your specific duties and responsibilities are listed below. Please sign, date and return to the Design and Delivery Director. Responsible to the Operations Manager for: Quality and Engineering: * Engineering Control: Monitor activities to ensure finished work is in accordance with design, drawings, specifications and Employer's requirements. * Manage the production and maintenance of as-built records. * Manage the identification of requirements, arrangement of design where appropriate, installation and monitoring of temporary works. * Ensure Maintenance regime is adequate and that the quality of repair to defects is to a satisfactrory standard. * Ensure all cylical works are carried out to the client requirements. * Planning and Reporting * Planning and programming: Assist the operations manager and Planning Manager in the compilation of short term and long term resourced programmes and monitor progress against short / long term programmes and Annual Service Plan. * Identify and obtain relevant information in order to plan the works. Ensure necessary information is provided to all parties (client, staff, designers, operatives, sub-contractors, suppliers, etc) to ensure construction, maintenance and costing. Commercial * Monitor of expenditure in relation to the annual service plan for Maintenance for East Sussex Highways. Ensuring delivery within lump sum for Maintenance. * Monitor productivity and manage / supervise staff, operatives, sub-contractors and associated plant. * Monitor and ensure that records are kept of additional work and / or delays and ensure the necessary Compensation Events are agreed and implemented. * Manage the identification, costing and resolution of Technical Queries and Non Conformancies. * Manage the production of materials ordering schedules and monitoring of materials utilisation on site. Team * Determine the resource requirements for the completion of the works. Assign roles, tasks and responsibilities necessary for completion of the works. * Manage the procurement of materials and sub -contractors in conjunction with the commercial department * Co-ordinate operations of sub-contractors between sections of the works * Support the respective HR Departments in all staff issues, including management of staff and operatives including monitoring performance, annual appraisals, training and disciplinary / grievance procedures and staff transfers * Maintain your professional competence and associated development plans including necessary Continued Professional Development and ongoing training. Capture CPD as required for any professional institutions. Health, Safety and Environment: * Know the statutory requirements related to the Costain Ch2m JV activities. Establish arrangements for implementing and monitoring legislative and CCJV requirements to ensure that safe systems of work are being followed. * Ensure that new employees, contractors and sub-contractors' supervision, client's representatives and visitors are instructed on the requirements of the HASEMP, potential hazards and control measures adopted to minimise the risks to Health & Safety in the workplace. * Ensure that staff under your control are complying with the HASEMP, CMP and other plans. * Identify, manage and monitor risks (safety, quality, environment, programme and commercial). Ensure that detailed Risk Assessments are made prior to works commencing and that the defined control measures are implemented and their effectiveness is monitored. * Ensure that if the method of any planned works changes, suitable review and/or change of method statement and risk assessment is carried out. * Determine the methods of working and manage the production of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Operations Plans and Inspection & Test Plans. Monitor activities to ensure compliance with these items. * Ensure that appropriate arrangements are implemented with regard to consultation with employees with regard to Health & Safety matters. * Co-operate with the SHEA to achieve the aims of the SHE policies, procedures and statutory requirements and upon his recommendations. * Ensure that a safe and tidy workplace(s) is maintained at all times. Communications and Performance: * Support the Public Liaison Team where necessary, ensuring community relations is given appropriate priority during the project. * Establish and maintain relationship and ensure effective liaison with Client, Employers Representatives, Designers and Third Parties (including the general public). * List innovative ideas and ensure 'best practice' throughout the Project. * Capturing good performance and best practice for inclusion in Motivating Success Toolkit and other client performance and knowledge management tools. General Health, Safety & Environment Responsibilities: You are responsible for implementing and maintaining safe systems of work in accordance with Site Health and Safety Management procedures, work instructions and the HASEMP. * Set a personal example in achieving the aims of the CCJV Policies. * Understand and implement the relevant CCJV Health & Safety and Environmental Policies and the Procedures and statutory requirements as they affect activities. * Understand and implement the requirements of the project Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plan and Risk Assessment requirements. Co-operate with Safety, Health and Environment Advisers to meet the objective of the plan and assessment. * Ensure that comprehensible method statements and risk assessments are available to and understood by those undertaking works and that the requirements are implemented. Ensure that safe systems of work are followed, including the work of other contractors or sub-contractors. * Restrain persons from taking risks, prohibit horseplay, and commend those operatives who by action or initiative eliminate hazards. * Ensure that all plant, equipment and electrical systems are regularly inspected, and that all defects are reported to the person responsible for the workplace and a record is maintained. * Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported in accordance with CCJV policy and co-operate with any investigation. * Ensure all employees under your control are competent and adequately trained in health, safety and environment in the operation of plant and equipment and the processes involved in the workplace. * Ensure that all operatives receive regular toolbox talks relevant to current/future site activities. * Ensure that all operatives receive daily 'start of shift' briefings prior to starting work and that regular "toolbox talks" relevant to current/future site activities take place. * Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relation to Safety, Health and Environmental management and responsibilities. * Obtain any personal competency cards in line with CCJV policy, e.g. CSCS.
