To assist in profitably managing UK projects , ensuring that the Projects are managed in a cost effective way as measured by the management accounts

Goals & Objectives

Responsible for all aspects related to electrical/electronic engineering of the Projects business and accountable through the Head of Projects and Design for the P&L of the individual projects

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Project Management
1.1 To assist in managing all electrical aspects of the Projects with the clear goal of maximum efficiency and effectiveness, achieving Projects performance which is valued by customers but at the lowest operating cost in the market place and as a profitable business unit
1.2 To ensure customers receive good service and to ensure that they are satisfied with the product and service at all times
1.3 To manage suppliers both on and off site to ensure that the quality of work is to the standard required by our customers
1.4 Check and measure supplier's work to enable sign off in accordance with the project Quality Plan and associated ITP's
1.5 To be aware of the contractual requirements of all Projects, payment milestones and associated requirements, key dates, technical requirements for the scope of works, Health and Safety requirements
1.6 Typically responsible for specifications, electrical design (HV and LV), schematic drawings, detail drawings and equipment schedules
1.7 Technical calculations and assessments, including safety assessments
1.8 Supporting Sales and Projects
1.9 Managing suppliers and sub-contractors
1.10 Carry out assignments usually on detailed activities within a broader project, relating to the design of generating set installations for green energy through waste processing and for combined heat and power systems. The size of installations can vary anywhere from 400 kW to 40 MW, and are mainly located within the UK

1.11 Tasks assigned might include:
· Preparing schematic drawings and schedules
· Earthing scheme surveys and design
· Designing electrical interconnection and protection for LV and HV generating sets
· Parts-lists
· Analytical design calculations
· Carrying out modifications to installations
· Writing proposals and reports or sections of more complex proposals, reports or feasibility studies
· Liaising with other departments, suppliers and clients on multi-discipline projects
· Managing suppliers and subcontractors
· Presentations to clients on work carried out
Tasks will need to be completed in a timely fashion to meet the key dates and targets of the Sales and Projects teams

2.1 Day to day operational and business management decisions
2.2 Planning of resources to achieve acceptable commercial and technical results
2.3 Managing the Projects profitability
3. Freedom to Act
3.1 Day to day decisions to manage Project customers and contracts. Managing tasks in order to achieve required deadlines, therefore a clear understanding of the business goals is required
4. Dimensions
4.1 The P&L of the Projects business
4.2 The delivery of the Projects on time and in accordance with the technical requirements of the contract
4.3 Deliver the Projects in a manner that gives complete customer satisfaction
4.4 The overall performance of the Projects Department to achieve the above criteria at the lowest operating cost
Essential Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate on their CV or Application Form how they meet the following Essential Criteria;
HNC/D or degree qualified in electrical engineering, with a focus on generation at HV ad LV.
Knowledge & Experience
Competent Electrical Engineer with technical expertise in power generation, electrical control schemes, LV/HV power distribution, CDM and health & safety.
Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in successful technical management and development of Energy Projects.
