Operations Assistant (Charity / Housing Association)

Chapter 1 is a charity and Registered Social Landlord that provides a range of housing and varied support services to vulnerable people through a dedicated team of staff located throughout England. Our aim is to support people in achieving their full potential. We offer our services to anyone in need respecting their faith, culture and social background. We work in partnership with 29 local authorities and have a growing network of over 50 projects across the UK. 

Position: Operations Assistant 
Location: Nuneaton 
Contract: Until March 2018 
Hours: 37.5 per week (3 out of 4 weekends on a rolling rota) 
Salary: £14,625

About the Role: 

The Judkins Re-use Shop collects items that are donated by the public; these are then checked and sold in the shop. The shop works in partnership with FCC Environment. It provides volunteering, training and work experience opportunities and is based at the Household Waste Recycling Centre in Nuneaton. We seek a temporary Operations Assistant on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2018. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside our Operations Manager to ensure the shop is open to the general public (7days a week), support all volunteers through training and mentoring, serve customers and deal with queries, liaise with the recycling staff, undertake risk assessments and ensure all health and safety requirements are met 

About You: 

Candidates will need a patient and calm professional manner and a fair and non-discriminatory, non-judgemental approach. Proven experience of working within a team and managing time effectively is essential, as is proven experience of working with volunteers. Good I.C.T., administration and communication skills will be required as well as the ability to work on their own initiative. The candidate will need to ensure that good customer care and effective pricing are used in order to drive sales, with a view to supporting the charity`s aims.
