In this role, you will Manage and execute a 12-month rolling PR and communications press office plan with agreement from relevant parties

The Long Version

The Communications Manager, UK & EMEA is responsible for the management and execution of on-brand communications including planning and delivery of all PR for the UK and EMEA (with a bias towards South Africa).

The position will execute based on a brief from the Senior Communications Manager, UK & EMEA and the Marketing Director - UK & EMEA.

Understanding and applying the Xero brand and tone of voice to all public-facing content, this role is all about execution with excellence.

How will this be achieved

  • Management and execution of a 12-month rolling PR and communications press office plan in agreement with Senior Communications Manager and Marketing Director - UK & EMEA

  • Concept development and execution of quarterly PR campaigns for UK and South Africa, with support from the respective PR agencies

  • Administration of the UK and EMEA PR budget

  • Working with the Xero blog Editor, owning and driving the blog pipeline to ensure UK and South African representation (interviewing Xero customers for stories, writing content etc.)

  • Managing the UK and South African PR agencies - signing off PR campaign plans, supporting execution etc.

  • Weekly / fortnightly PR meetings with the regional PR agencies and Global Comms team

  • Monitoring competitor PR activity, keeping informed on trends, innovations, and changes that affect and impact activity plans

  • Delivery of UK and South African case studies to support various vertical media pitches, bylines and blog posts

  • Single point of contact and owner of the briefing process with HQ for delivery of supporting elements

  • Responsible for UK and SA award entries

  • Contact for UK and EMEA on Xero Website for all press enquiries

  • Proactive member of a high performing and engaged marketing team

What you’ll bring to the party…


  • To have held previous senior communications roles in an agency or multinational organisation

  • Proven experience in creating and delivering and executing PR plans

  • Past experience of working in an agency would be an advantage

  • An understanding of the SMB market and/or accounting would give you the edge

  • To be self-motivated, proactive & fast moving

  • A skilled communicator with desire and/or history of thought leadership and creativity

  • Verbal and written communication skills including copywriting with ease
