ICT Technician

Location Plymouth

We are actively recruiting and ICT Technician for a commercial business based in Plymouth. We are seeking an experienced technician to provide technical expertise in the design, development and support of the companies’ infrastructure. The successful candidate will be working closely with the ICT Manager to ensure reliable, cost-effective ICT business solutions are implemented to provide a secure, reliable and modern ICT infrastructure. We are seeking candidates with a positive and supportive approach to customers and colleagues, understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully, inspire team members to attain goals and excellence and help promote and provide a position working environment.

Core Duties

  • Technical leadership - expert in leading the technical delivery of ICT Solutions
  • Project management - deliver improvement projects within the technology roadmap
  • Internal operations - lifecycle management of Servers, Networks, Security, Storage and Disaster Recovery
  • General activity

Technical leadership

  • Provide technical expertise in supporting and developing the ICT infrastructure
  • Lead the implementation of systems and initiatives that help deliver ICT business solutions
  • Resolve complex faults which cannot be resolved by ICT Service Desk staff
  • Implement and control suitable network monitoring processes and procedures to ensure high availability of systems and ensure continued customer satisfaction
  • Recognise and report system deficiencies and implement effective solutions
  • Create, execute and maintain technology plans to meet the changing needs of the customer Responsible for identifying and reporting security vulnerabilities and technical risks and then recommend and implement risk mitigation

Project management

  • Lead the design and delivery of infrastructure projects and related work streams
  • Ensure managed projects are delivered on time and budget with necessary documentation created and maintained as appropriate
  • Produce monthly KPI reports relative to specific current technical projects whilst ensuring any issues that may impact the success of a project are reported to the Group ICT Solutions Manager
  • Effectively manage workload to ensure both project work and daily support responsibilities are achieved

Internal operations

  • Ensure that all components of the ICT infrastructure are maintained appropriately and that service and support plans are reviewed and highlighted on a regular basis
  • Create, maintain and test effective ICT recovery plans to ensure required continuity of business services in the event of a critical incident, disaster and/or data loss
  • Ensure the continued protection of data and intellectual property of the company and its customer information
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to aid the team
  • Understand complex network infrastructure concepts to solve business challenges
  • Contribute to the ICT knowledge base, ensuring continuous delivery of technical excellence
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of the ICT change control process

General activity

  • Be available to the team to ensure technical expertise is shared with team members
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers regarding issues that cannot be resolved internally
  • Remain on the forefront of emerging industry practices
  • Undertake any other duties that are reasonably required by your Line Manager to meet the needs of the Business
