Trainee Purchase Ledger Clerk
Within our busy Finance department we are looking for Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our team. Whilst prior experience would be preferred we are able to offer training and support to someone looking to take their first steps in to a career in finance. You will ideally have some theoretical finance experience (e.g. relevant degree/ AAT qualification) or have some previous experience of an equivalent level. Most importantly you will be keen, enthusiastic and willing to learn from the department Manager and also the team around you in order to settle in the role quickly.
In the role you will support the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger, maintaining ledger accuracy and integrity and assisting in the preparation of payment runs. You will also be involved in project work ensuring the role remains varied and challenging. The purchase ledger team are hard working and focused but also very supportive of each other and enjoy their work and have a great rapport with each other.
The department offers fantastic long term opportunities with potential for study support (AAT/ CIMA/ ACCA) and career development. Many of our qualified/ part qualified Accountants started their careers within the Purchase Ledger Team and it offers a fantastic grounding and learning opportunity for the right individual.
As Purchase Ledger Clerk your main responsibilities will be:
- Monitoring and registering incoming invoices ensuring all details are accurately recorded for domestic and foreign suppliers
- Efficiently resolving invoice queries
- Managing supplier accounts including statement reconciliations
- Assisting in monthly reconciliation and month-end close of Accounts Payable Ledger
- Generating payments
To apply for this role your experience and skills should include:
- Previous purchase ledger/ finance experience or relevant qualifications e.g. mathematics degree or AAT
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with your team but also across the department
- Enthusiasm, drive and passion to learn and develop
- Strong IT skills to include Word and Excel
