Our client is a dementia charity. They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. 

Position: Stories Officer 
Location: London 
Contract type: Permanent 
Hours: 35 hours per week 
Salary: £28,763 per annum (actual)

About the role: 

They’re passionately committed to communicating effectively with their audiences and telling stories that engage hearts and minds to build a dementia movement and ensure the condition remains a public and political health priority. 

Have you got what it takes to seek out and tell compelling personal stories from people affected by dementia to inspire support and change? Then our client can promise you a stimulating and varied role as their new Stories Officer. 

They are looking for someone with a strong news sense, excellent honed communications and interpersonal skills and ideally journalistic experience. As a vital member of the Media team, you will be responsible for sourcing and managing powerful stories from people affected by dementia. 

You will ensure that our client’s bold, new strategy and our ambitious fundraising targets are supported by the telling of these stories in a variety of campaigns, through the media and to potential and existing funders. They will demonstrate impact and make the case for change, positioning the charity as the rallying point of the dementia movement. 

You will be able to sensitively get to the engaging details of someone’s story and be able to tell an attention grabbing narrative using their own words to galvanise others at a national and regional level. 

About you: 

You will be a dynamic self-starter who seizes the initiative, is extremely self-motivated and is able to manage their own time responsibly and effectively. 

You will have strong prioritisation skills and the flexibility to be able to help turn around media and fundraising requests at very short notice. You will also be comfortable with longer-term project work and the administration needed to set up and manage a bank of case studies. 

There will be some travel within the UK to meet and interview case studies. 

With a proven track record in telling stories that inspire action, you’ll have excellent communications and engagement skills to maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
