Mechanical Application Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, to work for a global leader in electro mechanical systems supplied to the leading Automotive OEM's

JOB SUMMARY

Lead the technical development of specific automotive products by defining requirements through liaison with various customer design functions, interfacing trim suppliers and company design and manufacturing functions.

Lead the technical response to enquiries and RFQs for specific products
Provide technical expertise to customer, within sales dept and to the broader company community as required
Lead the resolution of technical problems encountered during the development process
Support the resolutions of problems
KEY INTERFACES

Work within project teams led by Program Manager and including Software, Electrical and Quality engineers
Have continuous contact via phone, email, regular face to face project meetings and ad hoc meetings with customer and Tier 1. It is vital to command respect for technical knowledge and ability
Have continuous contact via phone, email, regular tele and video project meetings and occasional face to face meetings with company design dept. It is vital to command respect for technical knowledge and ability
Meetings are both national and international so it is essential that the job holder has a current Passport and driving licence.
QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Other Engineering Degree plus 2 years additional experience

HND plus seven years additional experience

EXPERIENCE

Must have worked with JLR or other Automotive OEM either directly or as a supplier for three or more year

Experience of Catia advantageous

KNOWLEDGE

Use of plastic materials in design and manufacture of complex structures

Automotive Environmental impact on complex plastic structures

Assembly of complex products into vehicles

Illumination Techniques

Common failure modes of complex structures

JLR Development Process CAD

Microsoft Office

Problem Solving Techniques
