Founded in 1933, the practice comprises 36 partners and approximately 320 staff supplying a range of services spanning audit, corporate taxation, private client services, VAT, business recovery and forensic accounting, together with a range of sector groups offering specialist industry knowledge.

The Department:

Fisher Partners is the business recovery and reconstruction department of HW Fisher & Company. Fisher Partners consists of 2 partners, a consultant, an appointment-taking Principal and 11 other staff, including secretaries and administrators.

The department is busy, dynamic and growing and deals with a wide range of corporate and personal insolvency assignments, from simple to complex and from small to large.

The Role:

We require a graduate with at least a 2:2 degree, or a school leaver with excellent predicted A levels (at least 280 UCAS points) to work within our Corporate Recovery Department as a Trainee.


This is an entry level position and your duties could include the following:-

  • Being responsible for all closure formalities of insolvency cases

  • Preparing reports and all associated enclosures

  • Liaising with administrator(s), senior manager(s)/principal(s) and Partner(s) to finalise the reports

  • Completing calculations for closure costs and calculating dividend payments to creditors, where appropriate

  • Following a checklist of tasks to be completed

  • Scanning all incoming and outgoing post

  • Producing letter packs

  • Logging cheques received into the department

  • Performing monthly reconciliations of bank accounts for each case

  • Filing

  • Administrative tasks

  • Other ad hoc duties in line with the role

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Good report writing skills

  • The ability to prioritise numerous task requests from a number of different colleagues/good time management skills

  • Have strong interpersonal skills

  • The ability to work within deadlines

  • The ability to follow a checklist

  • An excellent understanding of English

  • Possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Be able to act in a professional manner and be self-motivated

In return, the right candidate will be offered study support for professional qualifications after successful completion of the probationary period. This may include AAT with a view to going on to study ACCA in the future, as well as the opportunity to study toward professional insolvency qualifications.
