We are looking for an experienced General Manager in the Oil and Gas Industry, to oversee the Operations and day to day running of our global business based in our head office in Norfolk. You will help support the Board in providing direction, leadership and guidance to the day to day running of the various departments of the company, together with the administration of the business.

The Job role

* Ensure smooth and efficient operation of day to day business as well as identifying and implementing 'change' for continuous improvement.
* Support the Board in providing direction, leadership and guidance to the day to day running of the various departments of the company, together with the administration of the business.
* SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Projects Department, Fabrication/Production, Design/Drawing Office, HR, QA/QC, HSE (some involvement and guidance to the Inspections and Training Department may also be required).
* MAIN DUTIES: Assisting the Board with the development and implementation of medium and longer term strategy.
* Ensuring that adequate resource and systems are in place or arranged for each department to optimise functionality and ensure that staff are highly motivated to contribute to the future development of the business.
* Ensure all personnel are competent to carry out their respective duties by means of measuring and managing against objectives and expectations, in line with the business competence management system.
* Take on and manage day to day business activities to alleviate the Board of matters that will distract them from strategic development of the company, both in the UK and overseas.
* Arrange and engage in regular management meetings to keep connected with all departments as well as encourage the further development of an open ended and constructive dialog between department heads.
* Work with the Projects Manager to build and manage a projects team and department that will take projects from inception to conclusion in the most efficient and profitable way possible, ensuring adherence to company procedures, contractual obligations, financial objectives and customer satisfaction.
* Ensure DSL has a well-resourced production facility and team to support the regular fabrication work generated through the sales team on drilling structure related business.
* Develop additional fabrication business opportunities from the local community to ensure that the production team is kept active and contributing to the overhead of this department when regular drilling structure work is absent.
* Manage and work with all other department heads to ensure they are focussed on continuous improvement within their department, existing systems are maintained and new systems developed to cope with the increased workload forecast in the future and that staff are communicated with and motivated to contribute to the continued growth of the business.
* Maintain workforce discipline in accordance with company employment procedures and in observance of applicable statutory regulations.
* Help to ensure the business operates to the highest level of HSE standards and ensure safety compliance as per the Company's HSE Manual 000 Section 4.
* Maintain a QA system that allows DSL to conform to the required accreditations and certifications deemed necessary for the continued development of the business as well as ensuring the highest level of QC to allow delivery of first class products and services to ensure customer satisfaction.
* Work with the Board to identify, recruit and develop additional management positions, restructure departments, optimise the way we work and take overall responsibility for the management of the aforementioned to enable the business to effectively manage its increase in workload and revenue going forward.

Must Haves

* At least three years' experience in similar role in Oil & Gas or Engineering
* Minimum qualifications : Business Qualification, GCSEs or equivalent
* Work under pressure, good leadership qualities, organisational ability, and flexibility.
* Possess good communication skills at all levels, within company and externally.
* Sound knowledge of materials /plant and equipment
