A global engineering business require a strategic Buyer, to lead an indirect procurement project. Experience sourcing across indirect, or strategic direct categories is preferred, alongside excellent negotiation, analytical and vendor management skills.

The Indirect Category Buyer will lead an indirect sourcing project designed to capture, analyse and reduce expenditure across the non-production categories (Utilities, IT, Telecoms, Soft FM, Travel, Logistics, MRO, Packaging, Fleet, Professional Services, HR Services, Engineering Services). The Indirect Category Buyer will be required to foster excellent relationships with a number of stakeholder communities (IT, Facilities, HR etc.) to ensure a supply chain is established that can satisfy their needs, in a cost effective manner.

Specific duties of the Indirect Category Buyer include:

1. Capture, analysis and review of current indirect spend categories
2. Bench Marking, Market Intelligence and Supplier Selection activities
3. Identification of, and negotiation with appropriate vendors
4. Ownership of Indirect (Utilities, IT, Telecoms, Soft FM, Travel, Logistics, MRO, Packaging) procurement strategy
5. Management of supplier relationships - drive improved supply chain performance
6. Management of supplier score card and vendor rating systems
7. Support Procurement Manager in development of overall Procurement Strategy
8. Support CI and process improvement within the department, particularly relating to e-procurement tools

Indirect Category Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:

1. Indirect, Non-Production, Services, or strategic direct procurement experience
2. End-to-End procurement expertise - supplier selection, negotiation through to vendor management
3. The ability to build excellent stakeholder relationships
4. Commercial acumen, and an analytical mind
5. CIPS or Degree - desirable
