A top client of mine are looking to take on an experienced Construction Planner to enhance our existing team. The role encompasses the development of programmes for both tender and contract requirements. Previous planning experience should ideally cover Retail, Commercial, Industrial, Health and Education sectors. Experience on civil engineering projects would also be beneficial. The post will require regular travel and will be located at various sites around London.

The client are very well known in Ireland and Northern UK and are currently expanding their presence in the London market. Their speciality is healthcare, retail and education up to the value of around £50/60m. They are a reputable company who will look after employees and support long term career progression. As a Project Manager you will be given full control of a project reporting to a Contracts Manager who will be covering around 3 to 4 projects.

Responsibilities include:

* Create, maintain, review and administer construction programmes and schedules.
* Liaise with managers and engineers to review the progress of projects and address issues.
* Liaise and co-ordinate work activity with external contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
* Monitor live projects and provide progress reports to present to both the project team and the client.
* Present information for internal meetings.
* Identifying programme risks and problem solving.
* Produce programme information (including narratives) to support bids, quality submissions and live construction project.
* Assisting with consultations and negotiations with consultants and developers.
* Assisting with the provision of services to clients and contributing to projects.
* Develop pre-construction requirements and produce schedules to achieve construction dates.
* Liaising with managers and engineers to review the progress of projects and address issues which arise.
* Have knowledge of the planning requirements of different forms of construction contracts.
* Have an understanding of modern building techniques, plant & equipment and an appreciation of logistical needs/issues.
* Have an appreciation of the impact of cost in the compilation of a programme and development of a construction solution.
* Provide planning input/information for PQQs, tender responses (including Quality Submissions) to support bids and also for live projects.
* Provide information for and attend pre-tender, mid-tender and post tender interviews.
* Creating, maintaining, reviewing and administering construction schedules and plans.
* Present information internally on a project and keeping the client team informed on the status of projects.
* Monitor live projects and provide progress reports to present to both the project team and the client.
* Identify programme risks, make provision for them and apply solutions and problem solving techniques.

Ideally the applicant will be able to demonstrate the following key skills:

* Previous experience in a similar role
* Experienced user of Power Project, or alternatively Microsoft Project or Primavera.
* Ability to work under pressure and to strict timescales.
* Excellent skills of programme development and implementation of project monitoring techniques including baselining & resource modelling.
* NEC project experience would be beneficial.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Team player.
