This role for a Communications Specialist has been released on a temporary basis for 3 months initially.

Main Duties:

* Implementing internal communications strategy,.
* Working with colleagues on message development and effective strategies to deliver key messages
* Ensuring the Council retains a highly visible strong brand within all types of communication internally e.g. ensuring that everything is linked to the Council and that any impacts are reflected in customer satisfaction and staff satisfaction surveys
* Ensuring message development for effective internal implementation and recommending the most appropriate and cost effective channel or materials
* Supporting internal communication to increase employee engagement, responsible for coordinating and developing a variety of channels involving presentations, workshops, conferences, meetings and other events as required. Responsible for researching, writing and editing news and feature articles for both print and online for internal publications as well as providing coaching and advice to others on communications best practice
* Undertaking other duties appropriate to the grading and nature of the post as required
* Proactively establishing and maintaining effective working team relationships with all support departments

You should match the following criteria:

* Thorough understanding and experience of developing and implementing communications policies, media and stakeholder relations, internal communications,
publications and events. Additionally, reviewing and developing reputation, marketing campaigns and web content communications
* Ability to build trust, value others, communicate effectively, drive execution, foster innovation, focus on delivery to customers, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity
* Ability to handle sensitive issues and stay cool under pressure
* Ability to think laterally and generate ideas
* Ability to translate complex information into more accessible language for the public, stakeholders and staff
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to write clear and concisely and to present findings effectively
* Good knowledge and experience of service planning, performance management, customer insight and the localism agenda
* An up to date knowledge and understanding of the use of social and interactive media as a key communication channel
* Knowledge of key processes including risk management, equality and diversity, business continuity and emergency planning
* Strong organisational skills and be able to prioritise and timetable work and projects
