Our client is a leading supplier of specialist espresso coffee machines, and they are seeking an Area Service Manager to join their expanding operations in the Reading area.

Reporting into the Technical Manager, the Area Service Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a team of 7-8 engineers in the South West region, covering from Reading to Bristol, as well as the South Coast of England. The team of Field Service Engineers are performing reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide variety of traditional coffee machines. Manufacturers could include Thermoplan, Schaerer, Jura, WMF, Bravilor, and Gaggia.

The Area Service Manager will ideally have technical electrical experience, including dealing with 3-phase electrics, with a City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.

Main duties and responsibilities:

* To be a leader of the team by spending time supporting, coaching and driving each team member to want to deliver a "best in class" level of service
* To act and lead, with and through the team, as an ambassador of the company
* To advocate and deliver effective, positive and efficient communication between the field teams and support team
* To constantly review the technical knowledge of both you and your team to ensure that the skill set is at the highest level possible and produce a development plan for each team member to continuously improve the technical understanding and reputation
* To conduct quarterly reviews with each team member and annual appraisals in a timely manner
* To deliver against team objectives and continuously review the team's performance putting in place plans to ensure compliance to Service Level Agreements where appropriate
* To communicate with customers where appropriate and assess their needs and put plans in place to resolve any issues
* To work closely with the technical team to deliver efficiently any upgrades, enhancements or communications to the field team
* To benchmark and challenge our ways of working to ensure we are constantly pushing to give excellent customer service
* Review KPI's for the team to ensure they are achieving expected performance levels

Experience of working in the coffee or vending industry would be advantageous but not essential for this role. However, a solid understanding of electrical installations and servicing is key to helping the team around you deliver the best results for the company.
