Job Description

Based in Cambridge as a Senior / Principal Hybrid Controls Engineer, you will work on a variety of projects, including research & development, technology demonstrations and algorithms for series production vehicles across a number of technology areas. Your primary responsibilities will include:

1 Supporting the definition of both vehicle-level functional requirements and control algorithm requirements specifications
2 Design, implementation and verification of executable algorithms (generally using Simulink, Stateflow and Embedded Coder) and associated document
3 Integration of algorithms with low-level software, hardware platform & vehicle systems
4 Functional testing, refinement & calibration on vehicles
5 Investigation and resolution of issues
6 Using a range of test methods and tools including static model/code analysers, unit/module testing, communication bus analysers and system testing
7 Technical negotiations with clients and support of commercial discussions

Personal Profile

You are first class or 2:1 degree qualified in an Engineering or Software related discipline.

1 You have experience in the design & development of vehicle-level control strategies for hybrid or electric vehicles
2 You demonstrate a deep understanding of, and insight into, the requirements typically associated with such strategies and at least one example of software architecture to support their implementation
3 You should have a good working knowledge of model based development using Matlab/Simulink & auto-coding
4 You will show evidence of a strong work ethic and have good interpersonal & communication skills
5 You are able to prioritise effectively and take a logical & methodical approach to problem solving
6 You work well both as part of a team and individually, and be astute and quick thinking with an inquiring mind
7 Flexibility on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments

Knowledge and experience in the following areas is highly beneficial:

1 Working on a project destined for series-production and an understanding of the associated processes required to ensure the necessary level of quality
2 Awareness of functional safety, both with respect to necessary process steps & the particular requirements for hybrid vehicles
3 Success in team and technical leadership for projects within the control software area
4 Direct engagement with clients/external stake-holders on technical issues
