Head of Group Financial Reporting - Excellent career development step
Following the appointment of a new Group Financial Controller, this newly created position as one of three direct reports has arisen for a career focussed and progressive individual.
The company is entering an exciting time where it aims to transform and grow the business, both organically and through a significant acquisition programme. Consequently, this new role has been created to lead the internal and external reporting activities. The successful candidate will work closely with senior financial management in both London and overseas.
Leading the planning and delivery of the monthly management reporting as well as the annual and half yearly statutory financial statements will be core activities for the role.
The Head of Group Financial Reporting is key to delivering the internal reporting that enables the business to make effective decisions on a timely basis. Our external financial reporting is key to informing investors about our business and managing their expectations - consequently this new role encompasses the core activities usually associated with financial reporting as well as Investor Relations. The creation of a fit-for-purpose investor relations function is key to effectively managing external expectations. This will involve a degree of modelling of our expected results and working alongside peers responsible for the budgeting and forecasting activities. This role involves leading, motivating and helping a team perform beyond their expectations.
• Lead and motivate a team
• Create a culture to continuously improve the activities of the team
• Manage the creation of the monthly internal reporting
• Pro-actively look at future accounting standards and their impact on the group
• Ensure compliance with the covenant reporting requirements
• Own the relationship with the external auditors
• Provide insight to the business explaining variances to budget
• Drive a continuous improvement culture across finance
You will be fully qualified, probably from the Big 4 and be of Manager or possibly Senior Manager level looking to make a move into commerce & industry, or having already made the move, come from an international business in a technically challenging role.
The ideal candidate would be an intelligent, confident, "can-do" practical individual and a strong team player who is prepared to get their "hands dirty" and lead by example.
