BRC are working with one of our key Social Housing clients to fill a Rent Setting Officer role on a Fixed-term contract until March 2018.

The purpose of the Rent Setting Officer is responsible for carrying out Annual Service Charge Reviews on all schemes and subsequently ensuring that the rent reviews for the assured units and re-registrations for the secure units are implemented as near to the review dates as possible.
Key Responsibilities for this Rent Setting Officer role are:

- Monitoring, extracting and collating information relating to services provided to residents of the Association`s housing schemes in liaison with Housing Management staff, with a view to amending service charges where necessary to avoid any financial deficits arising and contacting residents as appropriate.
- Calculating annual assured rent reviews to maximise the Association`s rental income and ensuring, where possible, these increases are implemented on time.
- Applying to the Rent Service for the re-registration of fair rents for the Association`s secure units.  Ensuring that these increases are implemented as near to the re-registration date as possible.
- Reconciliation of Income and Expenditure Account against the nominal ledger (Trial Balance).
- Producing rent notification letters to residents.
- Input and checking of revised rents into the rent accounting system.
- Termination of tenancies on to the rent accounting system and preparing the new rent and service charge for the incoming resident.
- Checking of new tenancies and amendment of existing details on the rent accounting system.
- Calculate and recharge individual water rates charges to residents where the Association is responsible for paying the charge.
- Dealing with rent/service charge related queries.  Also assisting with incoming calls on a daily basis, as and when required.
- Undertaking review of but not setting of service charges.
- Undertaking occasional additional working hours, when necessary, to complete workload.

Requirements for the Rent Setting Officer role:

- Computer literate especially in Microsoft Excel and have basic knowledge of Word, Outlook and other Windows Applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- To be organised and able to set and keep to deadlines, prioritise workloads and meet targets.
- To be able to work under pressure and carry out more than one task at a time.
- Good numeracy and analytical skills.
- Good administration skills.
- Ability to work under limited supervision.
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge and understanding of housing legislation.
- Three years experience in accounting preferable.
