North Midland Construction is a national building, civil engineering and mechanical, electrical contractor with 70 years' experience. With our Head Office based in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire we operate through a number of strategically placed regional offices covering the whole of the British Isles; offering clients a one stop shop for their construction requirements. We presently have an opportunity within a long term Framework in Kent on Clean Water projects in partnership with BAM, as the BAMNomenca JV.

The BAM Nomenca JV provides Clean Water solutions to South East Water ( SEW ) for the 2015 to 2020 Amp 6 Lot A capital delivery. With an annual turnover of circa £12m the Joint Venture delivers large capital schemes across Kent, Surrey and Sussex from its base at SEW offices in Snodland near Maidstone.

As a team they have successfully completed the first year of the AMP and are looking to continually improve programme delivery across the next four years with a target of a further extension to AMP 8 taking them through to 2030.

Reporting to the regional Engineering Director, you will be responsible for the production and management of designs for Process / Mechanical / Electrical and Combined schemes, predominately for Capital Delivery in the water industry (potable water).

The main duties include the responsibility for the following:

* Working alongside the Framework & Delivery Manager to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications.
* To closely coordinate with the client's design and civil partners.
* To provide outline and detailed engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising our design partners, in-house resources, site installation and construction personnel.
* Ascertaining Clients requirements either through reference to their specification documents or more likely through visiting sites with their nominated personnel. A key requirement is the ability to determine the actual operational requirement and propose appropriate solutions.
* To ensure scheme designs are value engineered, whilst retaining appropriate levels of operational security and full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
* To lead and promote innovation, challenging our Clients, design partners and the supply chain to ensure cost effectiveness in both our design solutions and all design activities.
* To manage, mentor and develop the Design Engineers and Coordinators who have responsibility to closely coordinate design production with the in house design teams, external design companies, our supply chain and where applicable our clients designers.
* To prepare financial budgets and programmes for design activities.
* To ensure all design work is completed to agreed programmes and financial budgets.
* Ascertain preliminary and detailed design / project requirements and solutions.
* To provide outline and detailed engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising our design partners, in-house resources, site installation and construction personnel.
* Liaison with client's engineering staff or where applicable their design consultants to ensure designs are approved in accordance with the timescales stipulated within the contract.
* Attend internal and external design reviews and where applicable progress meetings.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

* An industry applicable ONC / HNC / B.Eng
* Extensive knowledge of water and sewage treatment processes including Chemical Dosing process.
* Commercial and contractual awareness
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
* Self motivation
* Be able to organise yourself and others workload
* Be proactive in your approach
* An excellent communicator
* A high level of diplomacy and customer focused

* Experience with AutoCAD software would be an advantage
