Accounts Assistant. Trade Association. Central London. Full Time Permanent. Up to £30k plus Bens plus study support
A stunning opportunity for an Accounts Assistant with experience of producing accounts up to a trial balance.
Ideally applicants will be Part Qualified in either ACCA or CIMA or AAT qualified.
Our clienmt is a highly respected Trade Association in the Financial services sector and offers a highly supportive and professional working environment.
To undertake responsibility for the day-to-day work and smooth running of the accounts for the Association. To support the Head of HR & Finance in the preparation of monthly management accounts, reconciliation of control accounts and preparation of annual accounts.
Several years’ relevant experience with knowledge of accounts to at least trial balance.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- An accounting qualification eg. AAT or part qualified ACCA/CIMA
- Self motivated, confident and proactive
- Able to prioritise workload
Attention to detail
- Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping and computerised accounting packages
- Good standard of English
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(a) Purchase Ledger
Check, code and enter new purchase invoices onto Pegasus Opera II and send to relevant budget holders for approval. Make payments to creditors via HSBC’s online billing service or cheque, as appropriate. Reconcile purchase ledger control account.
(b) Sales Ledger/Sales Invoicing
Create sales invoices and issue. Bank money and update sales ledger with payments received. Reconcile sales ledger control account.
(c) Credit Control
Monthly check on debtors list and to chase relevant overdue payments.
Prepare first draft of trial balance for external annual audits. Prepare schedules of fixed assets, legal and professional expenditure and other audit reports. Assist Head of HR & Finance with internal audits.
(e) Fixed Assets
Maintain register of fixed assets, depreciate in accordance with the depreciation policy.
Calculate VAT, taking account of exemptions. Prepare quarterly VAT returns and make payments.
Prepare first draft of monthly management accounts for review by Head of HR & Finance, liaising with line managers as necessary.
Other duties as required eg foreign drafts/bank transfers, online monthly expense payments and staff expenses etc.
Assist with other finance related projects as and when required.
