Role: Credit Controller

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £14625 per annum

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Dealing with the daily administration within the Credit Control Department, collecting rent and service charge for residential and commercial properties and ensuring that action against debtors is taken and progressed through to recovery.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assisting the credit control team with the issue of copy invoices and reminders.
• Answering telephone calls.
• Taking payments over the telephone.
• Making calls to Lessee’s
• Monitoring each account to ensure it is swiftly moved to the next stage of the Credit control procedure.
• Looking after own Credit Control portfolio ensuring that debt remains at a minimum.
• Updating accounts as necessary.
• Organising payment plans
• Instructing solicitors for debt recovery and Court action
• Recording data in computer property management systems (QUBE)
• Using the paperless system (EDM) to retrieve information.
• Using Microsoft Excel for recording of information and debtors reporting.
• Liaison with lessees and colleagues as necessary.
• Chasing tenants via telephone and written correspondence.
• Notifying clients of non-payment and advising of suitable courses of action.
• Organising possession notices to be served
• Effective diary and task management.
• Assisting in resolving complaints
• Supporting other members of department where necessary and to cover holidays etc.
• Being part of an active staff team and adhering to all company policies and procedures.
• Any other duties as required.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

• Good understanding of Microsoft Office programmes particularly Excel
• Good standard of numeracy and literacy skills
• Working to tight deadlines
• Responding to queries and simple problem solving
• Ideally, 1 year in a credit control position
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
• Time management and prioritisation
• Attention to detail
• Excellent organisation skills
• Good telephone manner
