As a Maintenance Apprentice you will support and provide Technical support for all areas of the Manufacturing function including diagnostic skills, validation of installation, programming skills, preventative maintenance skills, continuous improvement skills, and ability to communicate at all Business levels.

You will also develop at all stages of within Maintenance both Electrical and Mechanical skills. This will include the external development of skills through bespoke learning combined with direct on-site equipment development of skills.

You will learn to:

- Ability to read technical drawings electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC.
- Develop skills both mechanically and electrically to supplement technical knowledge with direct hands on skills to repair, modify and improve equipment.
- PC skills to develop and create documents, use of scheduling tools to support work activity.
- Develop knowledge of TPM, Predictive and Planned Maintenance systems.
- Ability to carry out TPM, Planned Maintenance activities in line with schedule adherence.
- Develop effective internal customer relationships.
- Develop effective relationships with OEM’s.
- Contribute to the business by identifying possible opportunities for improving working practices, processes and/or procedures
- Use mechanical, electrical and electronic testing devices and equipment to assist with diagnosis, improvement, modification skills.
- Produce components using a wide range of hand fitting techniques if required.
- Basic skills to operate power tools, bench grinders, bench drills, lathes.
- Requirement to work off-site to support new installations.
- Contribute to the business by identifying possible opportunities for improving working practices, processes and/or procedures

Future Prospects
There may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to progress to a Higher Level Apprenticeship or into a permanent position with this or another company.

In more senior roles you may lead a team or manage programmes. Senior positions typically include Process Engineering and Management activities, as well as leading new developments.

To aid further career progression you may choose to work towards professional registration such as incorporated engineer (IEng) or chartered engineer (CEng).

Given the multidisciplinary nature of the role, you will work closely with colleagues across all functions and acquire skills in a range of areas including; Finance, Human Resources, Project Management, Sales, Purchasing, etc.

Qualifications Required
5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A*-C Inc. Maths, English, ICT and a Science

- You need to be confident and have the ability to work independently without the need for close supervision.
- Good communications skills are advantageous for this role.
- You must be able to follow instructions with a methodical approach.
- You must be organised and have good attention to detail.
- Good hand/eye co-ordination is vital for this role.
- Ability to solve problems in a timely response that demonstrates both logical and creative thinking.
- Ability to stay calm and think logically in difficult situations.

- You must be self-driven and have an enthusiastic approach to your work with a desire to succeed in Engineering.
- Good timekeeping and attendance.
