Associate Director - ITS/Public Transport

Location Flexible - Preferably Birmingham

£55,000 - £65,000 + bonus + car allowance



An Associate Director with experience within ITS/Public Transport is required for an award winning multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. The role will preferably be based from Birmingham, but location is flexible dependent on the candidate.

The Transport team is a leading provider of expert transport services and advice into the public and private sectors, working on a wide range of high profile projects. We are a highly motivated and commercially focussed team and are now expanding to meet our growing workload of public sector transport projects and major private sector developments. As a result we need an ambitious and experienced Associate Director to help us deliver our growing workload.

The current ITS and Public Transport Team provides a wide range of award winning public transport, traffic control, network management and interchange related consultancy services across the UK and internationally.

Reporting to and working closely with the ITS Director, the Associate Director will have a proven detailed technical knowledge of, and record of working with clients, in transport sectors including:

* Intelligent Transport Systems - including public transport related systems (such as bus fleet management, passenger information and payment) and/or traffic signal control (such as UTMC/control centres, traffic signal design/assessment/commissioning) and/or highways systems (such as traffic management, enforcement, tolling, Smart/Managed motorways, parking guidance and information services systems).
* Public transport - including bus, BRT, light rail and heavy rail projects.
* Interchanges - design and appraisal of bus and rail interchanges including complimentary public realm/urban design.



Specific Requirements include:

* An ambitious and experienced individual, educated to degree level (or other equivalent qualification) in a relevant numerate subject, and ideally, a member of a relevant professional body.
* Relevant industry experience able to demonstrate commercially driven delivery.
* Experience of managing large or complex projects technically and financially, of guiding and directing junior staff and delivering transport projects within time and budgetary constraints.
* Demonstrable experience in winning and delivering ITS and/or public transport and/or interchanges sector projects including R&D, feasibility studies, appraisals, business cases, designs, system specifications, system integration/operational issues, contract preparation, commissioning and project management.
* Working knowledge of ITS/Public Transport/interchanges policies, strategies, design standards and advice/best practice.
* A confident and professional manner, with the ability to develop existing and new client and stakeholder relationships.
* Experience of preparing successful fee proposals and technical inputs to successful major tenders.
* Experience of preparation of transport related business strategies/plans/cases and presentation of these to decision makers.
* Experience of relevant software packages for example AutoCAD, GIS, LINSIG, TRANSYT
