Assistant Quantity Surveyor

One of the leading national house builders have a requirement for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their North West team for a development based in Merseyside.

The company are an award winning developer who build a wide range of properties, from one- and two-bedroom apartments to five bedroom detached houses, with a broad price range including both private and affordable homes.

The Role

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be reporting to the Commercial Manager managing the budget of new build housing developments. Duties will include:

" Negotiate and place orders for labour and material sub-contractors and suppliers on a competitive tender basis
" Ensure all specifications and programmes are complied with and that quality is not compromised
" Monitor invoicing procedures
" Assist in the calculation of all the prime costs on developments within the business
" Assist in the preparation of Site Budgets for authorisation by BUMT at the appropriate time
" Assist in the management of closed site provisions
" Assist in monthly WIP and cash flow forecasting
" Monitor and explain all cost movements within the site valuation
" Responsible for processing all Contractor, subcontractor and consultant orders and payments, variation orders and day works
" Undertake valuations of production at budgeted cost on a monthly basis
" Report on savings and excesses against budget costs
" Forecast final accounts
" Monitor, reconcile and recharge any costs which relate to shared cost items with external companies or within the group
" Attend pre tender, pre start and any other relevant meeting as required under the Company's Operating Framework

Assistant Quantity Surveyor requirements

The successful candidate must hold a degree in Quantity Surveying and ideally have 1-2 years' experience (either placement year or post graduate). You will be IT literate and have an understanding of Building Regulations, NHBC and Health & Safety requirements.

In return for your skills, my client offer a salary ranging from £22-28k (dependant on experience) + car or allowance (£3,900), 5% bonus and additional company benefits.
