The Client
We are on the lookout for an experienced Business Development Manager to fill one of our high profile Business Development jobs with a key client in the civils and utilities sector. As a Business Development Manager with this well established firm, you would be expected to support the growth of the business in terms of its sales and profitability across the central belt of Scotland with a particular focus on Glasgow and the west. The firm has grown from humble beginnings with great success in providing bespoke logistical and warehousing solutions for the civils and utilities sector. With a focus on service, expert staff and getting the right materials to the right place at the right time, our client is growing from strength to strength.

The Job
To be a success as a Business Development Manager with this organisation, you will most likely have significant experience operating in a sales environment within the civil engineering sector. You will also have previous experience operating in a senior sales position ensuring operational and financial targets are reached or exceeded; liaising effectively with the internal team including branch managers, sales administration and business support staff. You will also ensure that existing relationships are maintained, identifying opportunities for upselling and cross selling where possible.

Your primary role as Business Development Manager will be to prospect for new business by networking, cold calling, advertising and other means of generating interest on the products and services. You will be skilled at developing rapport and building relationships with new clients, combined with a strong commercial awareness and understanding of the broader civil engineering sector within Scotland. As Business Development Manager you will be comfortable dealing with mid to senior management and being able to influence through your product knowledge and personality.
