Introduction

An incredibly exciting opportunity has arisen for a Desktop Support Analyst to join one of the UK's leading organisations.

Specification

The desktop support team are a key service delivery function within the Group IT Team. The role of the team is to provide a proactive, rapid response service to all the groups staff in the use of technology. Having positive relationships with staff is a critical skill required of any desktop support analyst coupled with a strong desire to deliver excellent customer service.

The team offers advice and guidance on the use of technology, identifying areas where improvements can be made and ensuring that infrastructure and system issues are escalated to the infrastructure and business systems teams.

Responsibilities:

* Provide 1st and 2nd line support to all staff through the provision of a help desk service
* Act as an escalation point for the desktop support team, providing guidance as appropriate
* Investigate more complex technical issues with the desktop support team, identifying weaknesses in system administration or configuration.
* Support the IT Services Manager in the day to day operation delivery of the IT function
* Carry out PC and hardware support, replacing spare parts where appropriate and dealing with all warranty claims
* Take an active role in ensuring support procedures are up to date and maintained
* Work closely with the network and business systems teams to ensure that knowledge sharing is effectively maintained
* Provide support and back up for IT training give to users
* Assist with the installation of new and current systems onto user's PC's
* Install PC's; carry out office moves and other operational duties
* Participate in IT project work relating to business objectives
* In conjunction with the desktop support team, provide support to business users between the hours of 07:00 - 19:00, delivered via flexible staggered shifts across the team.

Skills

* Experience operating in a customer facing PC support role undertaking a broad range of tasks
* Experience of MS Windows platforms in an in IT support environment
* Good knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policies
* Knowledge of PC build implementation, using management tools (Symantec Ghost or similar)
* Experience working with corporate anti-virus solutions
* Knowledge of at least one helpdesk administration system
* Demonstrable knowledge of PC architecture
* Operational LAN experience would be advantageous
* Experience supporting Office 365 users would be advantageous but not essential for the role
