Our client is looking to recruit a Chief Driving Instructor to manage and supervise the Driving School Instructors whilst also being able to instruct various levels of the police method of driving to police officers, support staff and outside bodies on the road and in the classroom.

The Chief Driving Instructor will work out of our client’s office in Colwyn Bay on a permanent contract. The post holder will be an advanced driver (having been qualified and the holder of a National Police Driver Trainers certificate).

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:
• Management and first line supervision of Driving School Instructors, and responsible for line management of probationer constables when on driving course.
• Vehicle responsibility - to include allocation of vehicles on a daily basis, maximising the training input to the students, with the wide range of vehicles that are available.
• To teach to the approved level of aspects of practical, theoretical knowledge in relation to any type of vehicle forming part of the Force fleet of vehicles, including response driving techniques.
• To be prepared to work between various police station locations within the North Wales area as directed.
• To be prepared to work, on occasions, variable hours of work to enable the instruction provided to include driving in the hours of darkness.

Essential Skills & Experience:
• Possess a Training & Development Level 4 Award or equivalent qualification.
• Be highly motivated and experienced in the management and supervision of staff and students.
• Full category B, C1 and D1 driving licence.
• Must be familiar with the College of Policing Roads Policing and Police Driving Learning Programme.
• Thorough knowledge of all force policies in relation to the use of police vehicles
• The level of Welsh skill required for this position – Verbal (Level 3), Converse partly in Welsh

Contract: Permanent contract

Salary: £31,050 per annum plus excellent benefits.
