Position: Day Support Worker 
Location: Barnet - Currently Edgware moving to Hendon (London Borough of Barnet) 
Contract type: Permanent 
Hours: 35 hours per week 
Salary: £16,577.00 per annum (actual)

About the role: 

We have been awarded a contract to develop a new Dementia Hub in the London Borough of Barnet. This will be the focus for both new and current services which include; day support, dementia cafes, a dementia advisor service, singing for the brain, a dementia action alliance and peer support. As an integral part of this exciting project we are working to make Barnet the most dementia friendly borough in London. Join us as a Day Support Worker to help us make this happen. 

You will be working in our day support service which will be moving from Edgware HA8 to a new Dementia Hub based in Hendon NW4. Alzheimer`s Society has run a specialist day support service in Barnet since 1992. The service provides a range of activities to provide mental stimulation, social and physical activities tailored to meet the individual`s interests and support needs. We will continue to offer a service in the day centre and will be expanding the service out into the community using a variety of different venues across the borough. You will have the opportunity to work both in the day centre & out in the community, running activities and offering support to people with dementia. 

About you: 

We are looking for enthusiastic and adaptable individuals to join our dedicated team of staff and volunteers. You will possess NVQ level 2 or have an equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience and have an understanding of the needs of people with dementia (and their carers). You will have good communication and listening skills and a can do attitude to providing timely, appropriate support to people with dementia enabling them to achieve the maximum benefit and enjoyment from their time spent in the day support service.
