Job Description and Duties

Must be of a trade background.

* Good knowledge of all ground work i.e. drainage, concreting, footings, brickwork, piling, shuttering, major civil works,
* Good knowledge of all 1st 2nd and final fix trades and needs to prove evidence of this from the following:- footings to roof on all types of construction, industrial buildings, schools, churches, car showrooms, office fit outs, no housing.
* Liaising on a daily basis with our site Agents, Foreman and Supervisors.
* Liaising on a regular basis with Architects, contract administrators, building surveyors, building control, structural engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers.
* To attend meetings with the clients as and when required.
* Checking of all our labour and sub-contractors works.
* Timely ordering and checking of materials and ensuring that the correct materials and plant have been ordered for the tasks in hand.
* Working to the clients specifications.
* Fully conversant with a Bill of Quantities.
* Has a good knowledge of contract documents.
* Can compile a Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan (CPHSP)
* Can compile an Operation and Maintenance File for when the contract is complete
* Can carry out Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and health and safety inspection on your sites.
* Can compile a programme of works.
* Monitoring overall progress against programmes.
* Checking times sheets and other internal paperwork.
* Must be fully conversant with the checking invoices ready for signing off for payment
* Checking and signing off sub-contract orders and invoices
* Stopping the work of our workforce and subcontractors if you feel the works being carried out are not safe, and be able to write to any contractor reminding them of their duties. If needed to dismiss their services after discussion with the team.
* Snagging the contract as it goes along and not just at the end, be prepared for confrontation with contractors, getting them to do it right the first time.
* Some setting out.
* A very good knowledge of Health and Safety (must provide any qualifications).
* To attend and chair health and safety meetings on a quarterly basis with our health and safety manager and the supervising workforce.
* To coordinate all health and safety information to our work force i.e. Risk Assessments and Method Statements and any special training/inductions that maybe required.
* Ensure all our supervisors and operatives are aware of the tasks in hand.
* Ensure that our administrative systems work efficiently, be prepared for change or change the system to suit our requirements.
* Plan projects with the supervising teams giving them clear instructions on the time limit they need to complete the works.
* To be aware of any changes that could affect the programme of work, with giving plenty of notice if any changes could affect the target programme.
* Working hours to suit the contracts and in some circumstances overtime will need to be worked.
* Reporting on a weekly basis to the operations director.
* Attend pre-contract meeting prior to any contract starting.
* Chair and attend post contract meetings.
* Be aware of any training the workforce may need and to arrange with the team as and when it is required,
