We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to be based in our Leeds office.Skills and Experience Required:1. Proven ability to write high quality UK standard compliant factual and interpretative reports2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and a focus on results and project delivery.3. Thorough grounding in all relevant and typically applied field techniques associated with the UK site investigation industry to include for example; logging of soils, sampling of soil and groundwater, gas monitoring, quantifying soil strength parameters, etc.4. Proven experience of designing, costing, supervising and managing intrusive site investigations including geotechnical and geochemical testing schedules.5. Demonstrable practical understanding of the behaviours and engineering properties of soils.6. Demonstrable experience of working to and under UK guidance and best practice in relation to ground investigation and geotechnical design, including but not limited to relevant British Standards, Eurocode 7 and NHBC guidance in relation to foundation design.7. Knowledge of shallow and deep foundation design, earthworks specification and validation, slope stability analysis and remedial techniques, retaining walls, settlement analysis, ground improvement techniques and construction method.8. Working knowledge of UK procedures, processes and guidance associated with land contamination assessment and management.9. Proven ability to independently review ground investigation and geotechnical data and to provide clear and concise written interpretation of results. To include for example, defining foundation solutions, zoning foundations and providing geotechnical design parameters.10. Experience in the preparation of geotechnical specifications, including earthworks, settlement monitoring and foundation design.11. Proven experience of tendering procedures, including preparation of fee proposals.12. Well organised with the proven ability to work unsupervised to a high quality and used to meeting tight deadlines.13. Proficient in using common IT applications (Microsoft Excel, Word and Project), plus common industry software such as GINT, SLOPE, SLIDE etc.14. This role requires frequent travel to other offices and sites as required.Qualifications:1. Strong Degree in a relevant subject such as Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Geoscience or Civil Engineering which is accredited by relevant professional body for Chartered status - Essential2. Membership of a relevant professional body - Essential3. Demonstrable commitment on ongoing CDP- Essential4. Current UK Driving licence - Essential5.
